Our Ideal Faculty Member: (What We Seek)
East New York Prep is seeking candidates looking to make a dramatic difference in the lives of NYC students by improving the quality of the NYC schools/education system. Faculty members must possess a passion and drive for educational excellence. A minimum of two years prior teaching experience is required.
The ideal candidate must have demonstrated leadership and have shown the ability to accomplish reform in a team oriented environment. Recognizing the challenges involved in reforming the NYC educational school system, it is also necessary that the ideal candidate have demonstrated scholastic aptitude as well as the ability to excel under very stressful conditions and in challenging environments.
Our Hiring Process: (What To Expect)
As part of the hiring process, all candidates will be offered a full day school visit. During your visit, you will be provided a school tour, asked to present two demonstrations lessons (one in math and one in either reading or social studies), interview with the Hiring Committee, observe and assess our school culture, and provide responses to any of your outstanding questions.
Our Compensation and Bonus Structure (What We Provide)
East New York Prep offers competitive starting salaries ranging from $60,000 to $70,000 with performance bonuses annually. Additionally, faculty is provided with ongoing training and feedback, along with professional supplies (such as individual computers, instructional materials, etc.).
Our Professional Standards: (What We Expect)
To close the Academic Achievement Gap, East New York Prep will provide more time on task for students and more Professional Development for faculty. Therefore, students attend school from 8am to 4:30 daily (September through June). Faculty members are afforded on-going Professional Development throughout the academic year via monthly training days (days when students are not in session) and training throughout the month of August.
To be successful, we expect a relentless focus on student achievement and character development. And, above all, we expect all faculty and staff to take on a whatever it takes attitude toward ensuring students achieve excellence.
