CalendarA mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions. - Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. The ENYP school year will consist of approximately 190 days, from the end of August to the end of June. This increased time on academic task represents a substantial investment in the educational future of our students. The chart below demonstrates the impact of this increased weekly instructional time on the overall instruction provided throughout the year to East New York Prep students.
Students at East New York Prep will spend 1,520 hours a year receiving academic instruction while students attending traditional public schools within the New York City Department of Education receive 900 hours a year of instructional time. It is significant that East New York Prep students will receive an additional 620 hours of instruction per year. These 620 hours are the equivalent of 124 additional days of instruction. Over the life of a student's enrollment at East New York Prep (ideally, 9 years from K to 8th grade), these additional hours of instruction will translate into approximately 6.2 additional years of academic instruction. |
