Admissions

East New York Prep selects students through a random lottery held every April. Automatic entry is given to siblings of current students. All other students are accepted via the lottery.  To conduct the lottery, the names of all children applying to the school are placed on name cards.  These name cards are placed in a lottery box.  As name cards are selected from the lottery box, the name card is affixed to the lottery chart of the corresponding grade.

At East New York Prep, we receive many more applications than available open seats for the upcoming school year.

Kindergarten:
Kindergarten serves as our primary entry grade.  Each year, we accept 50 students into our new kindergarten class.  Those first 50 selected children, along with the siblings of current students, are automatically offered a seat into the school for the upcoming school year. After those first 50 names have been selected, we will pull an additional 50 names from our lottery box.  Those 50 names will be added to the Kindergarten waitlist chart.  All other name cards will be maintained in the lottery box until further names are needed.  We do not usually have to pull any further names from the lottery drum in order to fill all 50 kindergarten seats.

All Other Grades:
Each year, we accept 15 students onto the waitlists for all other grades.  After the 15 names have been selected, we secure the additional name cards in the lottery box of each particular grade.
